Praise be to Allah SWT, the Lord of the universe, who has given us guidance in the religion of Islam. May peace and blessings always be upon Prophet Muhammad SAW, the messenger of Allah who brings mercy to all the worlds.

Today, let us talk about good morals in Islam. Morals, or the way of behaving, is one of the aspects that is highly emphasized in the teachings of our religion. In Islam, good morals are an integral part of our faith. Let us reflect on one of the words of Allah SWT in the Quran, Surah Al-Qalam (68:4):

“And indeed, you are of great morals.”

Allah SWT said to Prophet Muhammad SAW that he had great morals. This is a perfect example of how a Muslim should strive to have good and noble morals.

Good morals in Islam cover various aspects of daily life. These include humility, honesty, kindness to others, concern for the poor, patience in the face of trials, and many more. Other proofs in the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet SAW underline the importance of good morals in getting closer to Allah SWT.

One of the hadiths that remind us of the importance of good morals is the hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim which says that the Prophet SAW said: “Indeed I was sent to perfect noble morals.” In this hadith, the Prophet SAW stated that one of his purposes as a messenger of God was to bring good morals to mankind.

Good manners are not only about behaving well in front of others, but also in our hearts and minds. That includes manners in speaking, politeness in interacting, and honesty in everything.

In an increasingly complex and difficult society, good morals become more and more important. Good morals can be the basis for harmonious relationships in the family, community, and international. In addition, good morals also create inner peace and happiness in our lives.

So, let’s try to always improve our morals, not only because Allah SWT has ordered it, but also because we want to follow the example of Prophet Muhammad SAW who has great morals. May Allah give us strength and guidance in living life with good morals.
